Michigan school districts can save thousands of dollars in consulting fees by taking advantage of the new insurance consulting service offered by SET. With the enactment of Public Act 106 of 2007, school districts must now seek four bids when changing an employee health care plan, and in 2010, must seek four bids when continuing or renewing a plan. This can be a time-consuming and daunting process for busy school administrators, but SET can take this burden off their shoulders, free of charge!

The licensed insurance consultants at SET will met with district representatives to determine the type of benefit plans of interest, prepare and issue a Request for Proposal, and provide the district with an easy-to-understand analysis of the responses. SET will make an unbiased recommendation to the district, but will not attempt to sway the decision in favor of any carrier. The district decides where to place their coverage.

While SET's employees are licensed insurance agents for many carriers and have access to the open insurance market, our recommendations are objective and provide the best solution for a district's needs. If the district decides on a carrier for which we are an agent, SET will receive a commission for its ongoing services to the district, as would any carrier's agent.

By allowing SET to conduct the RFP process, a school district will have access to a wider range of health care plans than are available to other insurance agents. As school insurance specialists since 1971, SET has forged partnerships with carriers to offer exclusive dental and vision plans that only SET agents can quote. Additionally, several carriers have entered into agreements with SET to provide discounted pricing to school districts that place their coverages through SET. Although other agents can obtain quotes from these carriers, their rates will not be lower than those quoted by SET.
