SEG Self-Insurer Workers' Compensation Fund

The SEG Self-Insurer Workers' Compensation Fund is Michigan’s oldest and largest self-insured risk pool for schools’ workers’ compensation coverage. We currently provide coverage for 475 member districts. Members receive statutory coverage, which means that coverage always conforms to the current legal interpretation of the state workers’ compensation law. This is the most comprehensive coverage available.

Members of the Fund are its owners and “shareholders,” and receive regular distributions of accumulated assets. To date, more than $183 million has been returned to members in the form of surplus, dividends or premium reductions.

This Fund also has its own staff of risk control consultants. They analyze members' losses and work with them to implement safety programs to reduce claims.

Claims are administered by Cannon Cochran Management Services Inc. (CCMSI), which has a 10-person staff dedicated to working with our members exclusively. Claims are filed online, and loss reports can be downloaded from the Web. When an incident is reported, the data is captured automatically and the mandatory Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports are created! Connect to  CCMSI from the link at right.
